Back in the day we didn't have a retail store on every corner, and ordering online was certainly not a thing. So you had to get creative when it came to Halloween costumes. Homemade ones were very much a thing. And sometimes that meant throwing on a dress you already own and popping on some devil horns and tail that were hand-me-downs from a cousin. This is my version of that little devil; she's perfect for a fellow nostalgic Gen-Xer or anyone who loves the '80s!
She's around 5 inches (13 cm) tall and is made from spun cotton, a tradition that began in 19th century Germany, where cotton is moulded around wire into shapes which are then painted and decorated. She wears a red dress and cape, along with her devil horns and tail, and sports a side ponytail and tiny friendship bracelet on her wrist. She carries a "plastic" trick-or-treat bag made from cotton batting and dangles from black thread.
