Back in the day we didn't have a retail store on every corner, and ordering online was certainly not a thing. So you had to get creative when it came to Halloween costumes. Homemade ones were very much a thing, like robots made from foil covered cardboard boxes and finished with construction paper buttons (and dryer vent hose arms!). This is my version; he's perfect for a fellow nostalgic Gen-Xer or anyone who loves the '80s!
He's around 4.5 inches (12 cm) tall and is made from spun cotton, a tradition that began in 19th century Germany, where cotton is moulded around wire into shapes which are then painted and decorated. His robot body is covered in silver paint and finished with colourful buttons. The robot arms are inspired by dryer vent hoses. He carries a "plastic" trick-or-treat bag, made from cotton batting, and dangles from black thread.
This robot is ready to ship! He'll arrive wrapped with lots of love and care in acid free tissue paper and shredding.
